'99 UK spec - LPG soon!
OK I've had it a while now (July) but there are still a few things I think of while driving then forget later so here's a go at remembering (it's a 98 btw):

Mirrors; are they supposed to be heated) Can't believe what was a £24k car in 1998 hasn't surely? Mine don't anyway - which quite bugs me!

Outside temperature; mine reads about 4 degrees (C) too cold. Can it be recalibrated (at home preferably)?

Remote locking (nearly forgot); the book says "in some territories......" the indicators will flash when it arms/disarms. Mine doesn't and I'd really like it to. Any help?

The clock; I can't get a permanent clock display but if I remember right that's just tought t...s isn't it?

Thanks in advance to the wise and experienced who I have no doubt will clear this up.

Cheers Gents!

Hey jon i managed to get the clock to display on the 7000 unit when on CD but can't remeber how. I recently got a user manual and it describes how to do the clock but i don't have it to hand. I'll post back wed night if i remember to grab the manual

Hi and welcome,

To answer your niggles,

1 No the mirrors are not heated. (yup a bugger)
2 I guess it must be possible but no idea how (live with it)
3 I have a 98 to and mine don't either. (should be possible to re-programme but don't know how, would like to also)
4 The standard radio is not all that (change it):D

Have fun with it I do.

I fitted a Cobra alarm on mine, this gives audible and visual confirmation of activation and deactivation. Don't know why Ford didnt include this on UK spec Ex's.
The insurance company seemed to prefer the aftermarket system. It's so useful when trying to find the car in a multi storey, well the wife thinks so anyway :P

Howard,

We've been robbed!

Thanks once again for your advice. I've read a lot of your posts and by now I'm not surprised to hear from you Obi-Wan! You made me think though - and looking back I've had a surprise - I've got two different Owner Manuals with my truck. One is enRHD 599 dated January 1999 and the other is enRHD 1199 dated November 1996 and in that they DID have heated mirrors - bloody cheapskates took them off along with the door lights etc etc!!

Do excuse my little rant but it was a very expensive car in its day as was my previous (Mitsubishi Galant) and as much as I love the Explorer, in terms of equipment and refinement it's so bloody inferior it pains me.

Anyway, back to getting it how it should be....

Cheers,

Jon

What can I say? Thank you so much!

This is it boys, this is what we all need - and some self restraint - Explorer ****! Where to start? Where to stop? Where to find the money?

This is just SOOO helpful! Even if you don't order from them, the parts breakdowns are so useful it defies description.

Thank you again - big time! Hope things are good in the Big Country. Can't wait till we're there again. It's a little closer for us - Gladstone MB.

Cheers,

Jon

I'm still looking for work over here... but so far turning up nothing, will either be back in Blighty end of Feb or end of March...

Hope you find all the bits you want there

Si
