When you increase the tire size, doesn't it effect the mileage and speedometer?? Do you have to get the computer reprogrammed to account for the new tire size, or is the difference insignificant?

What is the largest tire that will fit in the undernieth spare tire storage (without any major modification)? (I don't have space to store it in the back as I often have a large dog back there, and I don't want to put it on the roof for my day-to-day driving)

If my tires are worn down and I have to use a spare with little to no wear, how badly will the auto 4x4 react (to the different tire sizes) and is it acceptable to drive that way for a short distance? Will it damage anything?

Has anyone put larger tires on their explorers without adding a lift kit, or does it look stupid? (If you have, please post a picture) I look at my stock explorer and can't help but think it looks like the tires are very undersized compared to the rest of the truck. I would like to put something larger on but I don't have the (auto)mechanical aptitude to install spacers by myself, or the money to have someone else to do it for me.

Thanks a lot!

largest tire you can fit = 265/75/16 or 265/70/17's

you can fit those tires with no lift at all...

yes the increase tire size will affect your speedo , and mileage, and you can buy a tuner to adjust your computer...

theres an answer to some of the questions you have...
