newbie with a question

"bucking" under 45 mph

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on this board, so please bear with me.

I bought a '99 xlt in May. The previous owner had it in the shop in Jan of this year for "bucking", after several tests and almost $400.00. They found nothing. We have noticed we only get about 13 miles to the gallon, and at times, below 45 miles per hour, it does "buck". It was tuned-up in Jan.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this, or knows why this might be happening.

never heard of an Explorer "bucking"? Do you mean the engine is shaking or the truck itself bucks/bouces while driving?
