Hi all. I'm new here and I've been reading alot. I know this has probably been asked a thousand times before but i couldn't find anything in the stickies. I am running 33s with stock suspension on a 96 xlt. I want to know if a body lift is possible/practical. I get a little bit of rubbing at full lock and just want to cure that and my truck looks pretty ugly with big tires and no lift. By the way I'm a mechanic and fully capable of anything but I'm looking for something that doesn't require a ton of work because time and money are tight right now. Thanks and sorry if I missed where this may have already been covered.

the torsion twist(search for torsion Bar 101) and shackles(war-153 part#) will give you a 1.5-2" lift for around 100 bucks(60 for shackles tt=free + alignment). The body lift is form the ranger of the corresponding year, ti is cheap but can be a pain in the ass depending on the rust state of your truck. But if you only get a little rubbing it sounds like the shackles and torsion twist are for you.

Shoot, I'm blown away you're running 33s without any lifting at all, that's ridiculous. BL/TT/Shacks is normally the way to go. Click on my signature for a peek at the work it takes for a 3" BL, which is one of the more common things we all do to clear 33s, well that combined with a TT/Shackle upgrade, as well. I myself have an 02 Sport and I'm still gettting a little rub on the passenger front, but meh, it'll be all right :D I'm still baffled you have 33s on there with no lift, I could have sworn that the Sports had larger wheelwells in the front, oh well. Any more questions, feel free to ask, we're all here to help. :salute:

I'll post a pic sometime soon. I did have to do a (very) little trimming but I've been running it like this for almost a year with the same tires with no problems other than light rubbing at full lock and extreme artic. I'm baffled more people don't just slap 33s on and cut a little bit. I mainly want a body lift for looks but clearance would be a nice bonus. And thanks tbars.

welcome
