Yes, everything is original.
Plug wires (they were numbered like those put on during assembly line production), new plugs (one had an almost burned off ground strap, none were gapped less than .087") It also probably had the original Mercon in the transfer case as it poured out the drain like black water. Almost no cooling/lubrication properties were left in that stuff.
The body is impeccable. A true garage kept gem.
Never molested, abused or roughed up.
In fact, most of the decals are still on the undercarriage items (axles, drivelines, etc.). So if it was ever offroad, it must have been a gravel parking lot...!
An elderly gentlemen traded it into a local shop that does classic car restorations. He used the vehicle as "credit" for a project and just let it go. The owner of the shop didn't want it laying around and sold it for a song. He had no idea what he had. If he would only have opened the glove box and read the impeccable and perfectly documented service records.
(Synthetic oil changes every 3K miles!)
So far, I've put plugs, wires, serviced the front differential, but replaced fluids all the way around in everything else except the brake lines.
He had the tranny replaced at 180K. It shifts right on time, at the right speeds and the fluid is bright red. I'll leave that alone for now.
Would like to say thanks to all those who have written articles on maintenance tips to make all my work a little easier.
Hopefully, I won't "need" that help too often...
Now, about that "song", it was a $1,400 dollar song.
