The replacement alternator for my '94 Explorer is missing a small single wire plug-in spot. The large 3-pin plug and the main bolt-on wire fit perfectly, but my '94 wiring has a return white wire and the newer alternator doesn't. The replacement alternator was checked and puts-out ok. Will it work without the return wire plugged-in, or is there a modification procedure?

It wasn't the alternator

After making my first post I read other posts on the Forum concerning alternators and discovered it is the fuseable link that's bad and not the alternator. I found one at the wrecking yard. Thanks, rocketshipete
