WTH doesn't address the Hardware issue? How hard can it be, to find a stronger/better freaking bolt???? No driveshaft is a problem especially if it lets loose while driving. I've lost 2 on 2 of my 70s cars (not Fords), fortunately at low speed. Not on the highway.

Sad that Ford did not just install a kit that is available from a third party vendor as shown in another thread. They spent a lot of money on reprogramming for the automatic setting of the parking brake. I am sure they could get the kits cheap and it would be a very quick simple installation process. I have been a Ford guy since I was a teenager, but some of their recent actions are baffling.

They don't need to, they already have a 2 bolt brace to use, they just didn't.

I may very well be mistaken but my impression is that this e-brake in Park will be a standard feature from now on regardless of the number of bolts.

How is this possibly caused by the recall?

“The vehicle would randomly slam to a complete stop while driving,” one of the complaints reads. “It happened several times with three different drivers (myself, my wife, and my son), each happening at 30-35 mph or less.”

People have been reporting emergency braking activating after the recall was performed. Hey, if it wasn't doing that before and now, after the recall, it is, maybe they are on to something.

These reports are of emergency braking going forward--not in reverse that I'm sure we've all experienced. I personally have NEVER had emergency brakes activate while driving forward--only the alert. This is after 68k miles and 4 years. My car did not need or have the recall performed.

The recall does not address the cause (no hardware change to the bolt/bracket (yet)). It is a software change (I can't use the word "update") that will automatically apply the parking brake under specific conditions. That is because if transmission is in "PARK" and the driveshaft decouples, nothing will hold the car from rolling away, which IS bad. And apparently, what some people say happened, and is possibly caused by that update, is the Parking Brake being applied while moving.
