Well I had it out today, did about two hours worth of driving in a local state park. The roads I took today were signed "No Winter Maintenance" and had plenty of snow on them. The only other vehicles I was coming across were snowmobiles.
I went easy on it at first, cause I didn't have a feel for these tires yet, and wanted to learn how they respond. I tested the grip from a stop and braking as well. From a stop they grabbed nice in the snow, some slipping of course, which you'll have with any tire in snow in my opinion, but they grabbed nice and I could actually accelerate nicely. I was very impressed with braking, they were definately hooking up nice. Most of the snow I was on was fairly well packed, but I did find some areas that were untouched, and no matter where I went, I was the only tire tracks other than snowmobiles. At one point, I even got a thumbs up from a snowmobiler after showing some backwards uphill driving on snow, at which point these tires barely kicked.
The whole time, a half a tank of gas worth, that I drove in the snow today, they showed very good manners. Steering was nice, any slipping and a little gas pulled it right out of a turn, very happy with them. I came across a pretty steep but short incline, probably close to a 55-60 degree incline, took it from a stop and crawled right up it, the tires were spinnign some, purely from lack of momentum, but i went right up it.
I am very happy with the tires, pavement driving they are low noise and handle nicely, I didn't seem to lose any stability going up in size with these, and at the same time perform very well in the snow. I have yet to try them in mud, but if they perform like they did in the snow today I'll be pretty happy with that...
I bought these being somewhat skeptical since I have been a big fan of the BFG A/T from when i had them on my Ranger. But after today I'm pretty happy and it seems to be money well spent. :exp:
Seem to be a really nice A/T.
