So I found out that I can not pass NJ State inspection w/ a brush gaurd and tail light gaurds. I went to a private inspection and the guy told me he can't pass me w/ the brush gaurd. So I went to 7 other stations and they told me the same. "It's illegal in NJ" they told me. So now I have to take the damm things off in order to pass inspection. Does anyone know a private place that will pass me? I'm too lazy to take them off. I mean if I'm going to take the gaurds off then take the hellas off, I might as well go to a state inspection!

that's crazy. why??
i see plenty of Range Rovers in jersey with the brush guard on.

south Orange huh. i used to live in west orange (like 22 years ago when i was a baby). mostly i lived in Jersey City, but i lived all over NJ (the east side anyway).

reason

Hey guys,

I have a 85 jeep CJ7 for wheeling with rock guards around the headlights and the inspectors that tilt tested my truck said that in N.J. you can't have anything covering or blocking any of the factory lights (head, tail, brake etc...). So if your brush guard has those horizontal barrs over the lights you can sawzall them off and pass.... :)

My other guess is that it's too high and in a rear collision the brush guard will hit over the rear bumper of the car in front of you.

Nice to hear from Jersey.
