So i just finished the m5od swap in the 94 limited and loving it so far, but now i cant get 4low to engage. 4high works, 4low worked before the swap, is there any other wires i have to shunt besides the park/netural safety wires at the trans harness?

The manual Explorers also needed to see you had the clutch down BUT, that switch was already jumped when you had the auto...

Did you hook up that switch during the conversion and if so, are you pushing in the clutch when you try to go into 4low?

since i do not have the provision at the harness for the clutch since it is a limited i did nothing for the clutch

I didn't expect them to use a different harness for the limited.. I normally just see jumpers and plugs for un-used circuits, like the DRL plug that is in the harness for our '92 XLT.

I'm going to be no help now, other than to say it is time to try to find that transfer case troubleshooting thread I vaguely remember seeing here... I believe it started with resetting/testing the 4x4 computer....

so nothing abnormal came up after pulling the codes from the tccm, i even swaped the tccm for the one that came out of the manual truck, but i still do not have 4low. any other ideas?

I'm in the same boat! I did the m5od swap on my 94 XLT last weekend, and I had the proper wiring and harness, but still have no 4-low either. Someone said that you could ground the (I think) white with red stripe wire at the 4x4 computer, which would give you "shift on the fly" 4-low. (Definitely need to make sure you're completely stopped before hitting the button!) If you find out anything, make sure you post it, and good luck!

Red with white.

The limited has a totally different harness then any other model, thats the same thing i went through. It's looking for a ground on the red w/ white wire at the trans so it knows you're in neutral.

that was the piece of the puzzle i was missing. rd/wt to the same ground stud as blk/or next to the tccm and 4low works again. thanks guys!!!
