First thing, stay simple. Have someone to start the engine while you are looking under the hood. Look at the compressor for the AC. Have them to turn on the AC and see if the compressor kicks in. If it does, see if it cycles like it is supposed to. It the compressor does not kick in, check your fuses. If ok, check the wiring running to the compressor. If necessary, check it with a hand held volt meter to see if you are getting voltage. If everything checks out Ok, you may be low on freon. I think they have a low pressure limit switch built in so if the freon is low or empty, the compressor will not run.
If the compressor is running but you are still not getting cold air, check to make sure your air door is working properly. This is the door back inside of the dash that will open and close as you slide the temp control switch from cold to hot and back. It is common for the wire that works the door to come off, from what I have heard.
