- 96 ford explorer xlt
hi everybody. just bought my first explorer. 96 xlt. last night brake lightss went out. all 3. Checked fuses, all were fine. so, knowing the high center light is on a seperate ground, i went straight for the brake light switch and replaced it. no luck. tested the switch and i am getting full batt power and the switch is activating. checked it mounted so i could see if i was getting enough pressure on it when the brake pedal is depressed and its letting the electricity through just barely pressing the pedal, tried taking the bushing put as another thread had suggested and results were the same. checked bulbs, they are good. mine doesnt have a driver information display so, from what i have read, that means it has no lamp out module. everything else works including the 4wheel drive. according to the manual the 4wheel drive and stoplights are on the same fuse. its getting power to the fuse, all other lights work perfectly. please, any help you can offer would be great
