No Forward Drive, Transmission Dead

I have a 1991 Eddie Bauer Special and I am stuck in Spain with a dead transmission.
Can anyone help?
I tried to buy a Salvaged Tranny from a salvage search board just to be ripped off for $823!
I am now looking for another salvage trannie or someones recommendation on a rebuild kit AND TOOLS.
I can only think that I must need some alignment tools which none of the kits list.

Any suggestions, help, trannies?

My procedures are not in order and some day I will add the "Getting Started" section. Not easy to get people to try this. If you don't remove the pump, you don't need special tools. Clutch compressor can be easily made from a piece of steel tubing.

Thanks - hmm this might be expensive

I have read the threads and Opera House you are definitely the man on the trannie.
I suspect my mechanic would charge about 2-3 days labour for removal, rebuild, refit which with the rebuild kit would cost me quite a bit.

What's the chance of finding one via a salvage yard and getting it shipped over (even I can fit one in a day).

Can you recommend any names or give me a phone number?

Just a comment

Sounds like you have two trannies and neither one works. For under $800 you can get a rebuilt tranny on the net. Of course you probably paid more than half that in shipping to get your uded one. It would seem you have enough parts to get one to work. Just what is the current problem with your transmission. If you could find some Cubans they could keep it running for 30 years without any replacement parts. I'm just a cheerleader for do it yourself. I won't be just ignoring you, I'll be ignoring everyone for a week. Bye till next Wed.
