Have you checked the heater core?

yes i have checked the heater flushed it but no heat.the engine not getting hot seems to be the problem i changed the stat but just wont warm up.i have the grill covered the fan seems to draw from the engine side not the grill side is this correct
thanks

Possibly could be the blend door thats not engaging the heater? Im not sure

You sure about the thermostat? These 4.0L OHV engines usually run around 195 degrees. What temp one did you put in? My dad's aerostar did the same thing... we put a warmer theromo in and it heats up more and can boil you now. You could possibly try a few degree warmer theromstat than what you have

You may have gotten a faulty new Tstat. Has happened before. Are the radiator hoses hot when it's been running a while? How about the hoses to the heater core? Also, you may want to replace the radiator cap if it's still the original.

I bought two "NEW" thermostats that did not work. Both were the cheap ones at AutoZone. The guy said that they would be fine!! After buying the third one and paying a little more for it it did work.

yeah... I bought an autozone one and mine didn't heat up. Stupidly, later I realized the "new" one was 192 degree whereas factory was 195 degree. Make sure your temp matches! It sh ould be the little number stamped somewhere on it, in degrees F. You could have gotten ones like mine, see what your spec is. Probably 195 if you have a 91
