questions

is there air coming out and its just not warm, or is there no air flow? If no air flow, I would look at the fan motor inside the passenger side fire wall. With all you fixed, if it can't push the heat through the core and out the vents, you won't be able to feel it. There is also a hearter relay on the outside of that heater/ac enclosure box. It has a connector going to it and two screws. Pull it out and check to see if all the coils are in tact. Just a couple of ideas, I had to replace a lot of parts last summer after a mishap of the motor burning up and causing the box to enclosure to melt. Also, your four wheel drive problem sounds electrical...probably a fuse. If you don't hear the clicking, I would start with the fuse box, then I would pull your 4x4 swit out and ohm it out. Good luck.

According to my Helms manual’s diagnostics, the possible source of insufficient, erratic, or no heat is the following:

Coolant level
Engine overheating
Heater core
A/C electronic door actuator motor
Water control valve
Thermostat

Let the motor warm up to normal operating temperature and feel the heater control valve inlet hose. This hose (at least in the 97) is located on the left side of the firewall in the engine compartment. There will be two hoses going into the firewall. The upper one with the vacuum actuator attached is the heater control valve inlet hose. Feel it before the actuator. That is, further away from the firewall. Is it hot? Now feel it on the other side of the actuator. Is it hot?

There is a complicated (at least complicated enough for me to not want to type all 40 + pages of heater diagnostics) series of test to perform to pinpoint the problem. I would take it to a compitant mechanic. Or, order the Helms manual for your truck from Helmsinc.com

Good luck.

thanks i will try that about the heater, yes the blower is working very good. i hade good heat till the heater core went out i put i new one in a guess what, no heat....the 4x4, i went out this morring and took the 2 connecter off the lil black box in the back and pressed the white switch and it clicked a few times with the red light flasing to and i taped the motor on the transfer case and now i have 4 wheel drive but only 4 hi? i put the code scanner on it and the code came up as converter clutch solenoid(ccc),converter clutch override(cco)solenoid, lock up solenoid(lus) or (mlus) circuit failure dose that mean my motor (4x4)is bad

I'll see tonight what my Helms manual has to say about those error codes. I have no idea! I'll get back to you on this unless somebody here already knows.
