I have been having a problem with no heat in my
x. The engine will be warm ,but I only get cold
air. After awhile the heat start to work. When I felt under the hood on the hoses coming out of heater core one feels kind of warm while the other is stone cold. I suspect it to be either the valve that control the flow to the core or the vacumn going to it. Where is this valve and how do I
check to see if it's getting vacumn? Does anyone
know how much this part is?

For starters, check your coolant level and make sure the radiator and overflow tank are both full.

The heater valve is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, near the fire wall. It is made of plastic, and has two hoses going into it on the engine side and two hoses coming out of it going into the fire wall. It also has a vaccuum line going to it.

If you want to see if it is getting vaccuum, take the vaccuum line off and stick your thumb over the end of the line. Then have someone turn the heat on and see if you feel a vaccuum on your thumb. (just in case the vaccuum is strong, which I don't think it will be, have them ready to turn it right back off if it makes your thumb hurt, don't just let go of it)

The part is less than $10, and is very easy to replace.
