No manual navigation input while in drive--wuwt??

So I've pretty much given up on using the voice activated navigation... "Did you say..." "Please say a line, or say None of these..." Maybe it's how I talk to MFT, but I find it MUCH easier to just manually change a setting, or manually enter an address.
Which brings me to the thread title... Is there any way to manually enter a destination while the car is in drive? MFT blacks out the option unless the vehicle is in park. I guess it's not "safe" to take my eyes away from the road when driving, but it is perfectly acceptable for my wife to enter an address while riding in the passenger seat. Does anyone else have an issue with this??
I'm not disappointed with all the navigation features however... I was using my Explorer to deliver Meals on Wheels to veterans, and had to go to 25+ addresses... I really love the navigation feature that allows you to create multiple way-points. I typed in 8-10 addresses at a time and programmed the route. Love this feature! ...now if only it can figure out the most economical route with all the programmed way-points, hmm...

No way to enable it unless you want to buy a lockpick kit for ~500.00 or so that may or may not void your warranty.

Have you tried using the street address voice command? It works really well for me. You just say:
"destination street address" then whatever address you need to go to.

Keep in mind that you need to give the digits of the address individually. For example, for 1265 Lombardi Avenue you would say "one two six five Lombardi" NOT "twelve sixty five" or "one thousand two hundred sixty five"

Also, try spelling names rather than saying them. You have to say "spell city" or "spell name". I've found I've gotten much better results that way.
