No Park

Hello all. I have a 97 sport 4x4 with 138,000mi. I have heard about the famous shift flare but mine has been perfect till recently. I seem to have lost park, all the other gears seem to be fine. The indacator on the shifter has been stopping farther and farther away from "P" but lines up in all other gears. I am guessing the shift linkage needs to be adjusted. Is it all that hard to adjust? Do the rest of you think thats what it could be? Thank you all in advance, Tony

Tony, I would follow the cable, and check behind the dash & stuff...I recall reading here about a couple of issues in that area.

Thanks Drdoom. I will check that out. Will that cause it to not engage park? It will roll like it was in nuetral. Sometimes it wont start like its still in gear. Then I have to push the gear shifter over to start it.
