It appears that after my brake job my truck will barely stop. I have to push very hard to make it stop at all. I'm thinking the brake assist isn't working? Also, now when it comes to a stop it idles really low and sometimes cuts off.

Could there be a vacuum leak in the brake booster?

Disconnected the booster and tried to drive it- hah no way I could stop this thing without the booster. OK I drove it some more and it's getting a little better.

Is it sometimes normal to have to drive around for a while after a brake job for the brakes to get normal again?

Did you get air in the system? Maybe it needs to be bled off.

I tried doing it with a big rock resting the brake pedal- maybe that wont cut it.

I don't have the luxury of anyone helping me right now :(

I am thinking it is air in the system, also.
