New here, but Ford Explorer owner for 19 years and have replaced just about everything that can break in that time. Baffled by newest curve my Betty has thrown at me. At a stop light, in drive brake on, motor just quit. Restart try fail; starter working fine turning the motor but no ignition. DIY dude so pulled plug wire and no spark. Replaced coil, still no spark. Pulled ICM and had it checked on GenIII tester at Autozone, it's okay. Checked all fuses, relays, still nothing. I hate to put it in a shop for something I can fix, but this ones got me cranky. Is there something I'm missing, or should I just bite the bullet?

I had this same issue in my 94 explorer. Be sure to double check the 30amp EEC fuse above the front right fender, in fuse box. The newer type of fuses may be harder to tell if they are blown. Go pull a bunch good fuses at the junkyard because you may need to blow a few more before finding your problem(they are the big fuses $3.00 apiece). If EEC blown and you replace it and the engine starts but only runs a few seconds before blowing again, you have bare wire arc. Mine was a wire with a melted shield going under the front of the throttle body. $200 repair at my local shop. If you can find the arc wire, should be much cheaper. Good luck.
