Well, I've exhausted my efforts in finding a synthetic mercon V compatible ATF ( the mobil1 at cdn tire only states mercon, not V and at 9$/L!) , the closest thing here is Quaker States' synthetic blend, other than walmart's tech 2000 brand full synthetic which is mercon V comp. now should I settle with this because something just doesnt give me warm fuzzies about a full synthetic thats 1/2 the cost of another brand and a little less expensive than a semi-synth... thoughts please!! I'm wanting full synth because I'm trying to stick to Aldive's recipe for fuel economy (I have all his mods written up in a notepad with check marks as I get them done ;) ) Do I have a reason to distrust this brand?

Mobil 1 just recently revised their ATF and the new bottle states Mercon V compatible. However many of us have run the non Mercon V Mobil 1 with no ill effects.

You could find yourself a Amsoil dealer. Their Universal ATF is spec'ed for Mercon V. Go to the Amsoil website and use the "Contact Us" link on upper right. Then click on the "Find a Dealer" link. Also click on Product Information and then Cars and Trucks. From there you can learn all about the ATF.

I know this because I am a dealer, I just figured that being from Canada you may want to find someone closer to you.

hmm, nearest amsoil is about 1/2 hour away, I find the Mobil very expensive at 9$/L, is amsoil that expensive too?

hmm, cool, I think i'll check that option out as well. no coments on the cheapo stuff or is it that obvious that it will not be trustworthy?

The WallyWorld syn is a major oil refiner's re-labeled "house brand". I wouldn't hesitate to use it, but everyone has different opinions. There's no advertising costs with Wally, so they can sell their oils cheaper. It meets the same specs as any other synthetic Mercon V.

The same applies for their SuperTech oil filters. They're made by Champion Labs, and are excellent filters @ 2 bucks each.

Wal-Mart(s) here in CT are now stocking the new flavor of Mobil 1 M5 compatible for $5.27

That makes sense about the advertising costs. I'll keep that in mind as well before the end of today
