I have a 96 Limited and the problem started out with no control over the temp of cold or hot coming out of the vents. When set to air it would just blow the coldest temp. When set to heat it would just blow the hottest temp. Now it doesnt even blow hot anymore, even when set to haet it just blows cold. Ive searched and even posted on a couple threads with no answers.

Ive been following this link http://www.blenddoorfix.netfirms.com for a couple troubleshooting ideas but Im stuck at what to do next.

I took the actuator off

I left it plugged in, turned on the truck, then put it to 60 degrees and then to 90 degrees. The peg did turn about 180 degrees, I dont know it thats all it turns or if it is working properly. What would be my next step in trying to solve this problem?

C'mon guys, winter just started here and Im from Texas. I cant be driving around everywhere freezing my rear off :p What should I check next???

Heat/ac

do you have the EATC? (electronic temp control). i recently had my blend door assembly replaced. It looks like in the picture your actuator is not broken and is functioning.

mine was the same way and i was not getting any heat. the actual blend door was broken. I also have the EATC.(95 limited) The whole assembly w/c includes the new redesigned blend door spans the whole dash end to end. The whole dash has to come out unfortunately. After the expensive fix (700)part was 153.00 rest was labor at an independent, everything works fine.
dealer charges about 1K.

check the blend door, as im guessing that's what it is. I was initially hoping it was the actuator to avoid this expense and do the fix but not the case.
good luck.

Yeah I think Dallas hit the 70's

And over here new lewisville I think we hit 75.

As for the subject on hand, well ive seen the electronic air controls go nuts before. May be that blend door thing that people talk about. But I hope you can fix it, because i hear ya when it comes to Texan's hating cold weather.
