The Illinois Four Wheel Drive Association is a well-respected group. They are made up of many “clubs” and facilitate group outings, charity events as well as perform political functions. They represent over 14 clubs consisting of over 670 families and individuals. This makes for a much stronger lobbying group then our small club alone. For example, the ILFWDA is having a “Storming Springfield” outing on May 17th. They are hoping to get at least 100 trucks. Essentially, this is a rally to show our feelings to the legislators about property for use in Illinois.
The ILFWDA doesn’t actually do anything for us so much as they facilitate or, organize events involving multiple clubs. Because, the ILFWDA has gained much respect in the 4 wheel drive community, our association with them should prove to “legitimize” our club too. Not to say the Northern Illinois Explorer Club isn’t a legitimate club, we are. It just doesn’t hurt to ally with local organizations that have similar goals as us.
It is not unlike most people’s reason for joining the NOIEC. You want to get together with people that have similar interests as yourself. Hopefully, by this association, you can gain some knowledge and help when you need it. This is exactly why the NOIEC has joined forces with the Illinois Four Wheel Drive Association. Power in numbers! Every member of the NOIEC is automatically a member of the ILFWDA.
I hope this answers your question.
