I turned on a AM station for the first time in a long time and there was a whining noise coming in from the speakers. It followed the RPM's of the engine. I also noticed when i used the wipers it makes a click/noise in the speakers when the wipers moved. i pressed the rear defrost button on and could hear a noise/static for a couple seconds. I have a Alpine head unit and didn't use the stock wires to my speakers. I unplugged the factory amps and removed the factory sub. still does it. My plugs and wires are only 1 month old. my brake lights make a click noise ( doesn't come from the speakers ) and they did that since new.

should i start by doing a parasitic drain test and find what fuse it could be on that's causing it? Thanks, Jason

Double check all of your wire connections. checking for any loose wires. Especially the grounds.

i'll be doing so tommorow. hoping it's in or around the wiring for the head unit. really don't feel like messing around doing parasitic drain tests, voltage drops and resistance testing. probably solder this time instead of using butt connectors.

i did find two big lacerations in the positive battery cable. don't know how they got there but gonna have to replace that as well

NOISE COMING THRU THE SPEAKERS... That's today's music ! (sorry I could not help being a smart a**))

^lol

a lot of times electronics can create electrical "Noise" this is most prevalent when aftermarket electronics are used such as

HID kits, any aftermarket lights, or things of that sort.

this is the reason why when you run wires for a sub, you always want to run the power wire as far away from the signal wire and make sure they never cross, i learned the hard way after running all wires down the drivers side for my sub... at first i though it was the tunning on my amp, but after talking to my friends at Extreme Audio in broad st in manchester ct, i moved the signal wire over to the passenger side and it solved all my issues

I had this problem come by my shop once. I do recall it also possibly being the alternator. A few minutes of interweb research should solve it for you. Really sounds like a grounding issue though.

well did some testing and didn't find anything wrong with the way i have my headunit hooked up. re-did all those connetions. i do not have my amp kit wired at all. still does it. i'm gonna check over the alternator wiring and the positive and ground cables. Anybody have the positive side cables laying around that are in good condition? 94 Exlplorer XLT 4.0???

I had the same problem but it didn't bother me too much, then my alternator went out and i replaced it and haven't heard it since.

I've heard it's a Ford thing, has to do with grounding or something. I do know EVERY Ford I've owned has done it, and I've had quite a few. I want to say there was even a TSB put out.

noticed that the clip that holds the alternator cable attached is broken. doesn't stay clipped in but it works. gonna check the TSB's now cause it's snowing outside.
