Well guys I know that this isn't very specific, but my X has been out of commision for almost a month, and I'm getting desperate. The X has been making sort of a metal bangging sound from what I think is the front passenger side. I thought at first that my shocks were going, so I ended up installing the whole EE suspension kit. I was going to do it any ways so it wasn't a big deal. Well I spent all weekend installing this and I finally finished it. I took it for a test drive and low and behold the noise was still there. I spent the whole weekend dealing with the suspension, and I didn't see anything, out of the ordinary. Again I know this is vague, but it is only when I hit some sort of a bump, and it almost sounds like something is loose but I couldn't see anything when I was down there. Any suggestions, imput, experience with this would be appreciated. I'm out of money after purchasing the EE kit and if I can fix it my self I will. I really don't want to bring it to the shop if I don't have to, so help save my X guys!

Check ball joints and tie rods.

thats not very specific but if its like when your truck changes angles or turns then it could be a number of things within the suspension-to-frame mounting system. If it's definitely a noise from the front then add in the possibility of steering-to-suspension mountings. Check for cracked or bent brackets where the suspension meets the frame and axle. Check to see if the metal where the suspension bolts to the frame looks like its popping or rubbing. Check for rotting bushings at all of the joints in suspension system. The bushings are like big rubber and metal diss that soften and quiet the suspension system. After wear and tear they get brittle, the rubber drys and deteriorates. This is the most likely cause. Check these things and get back with us.

Well I'm definitly going to take a better look at it tomorrow, I don't think it is anything with the steering. The noise only happens when I hit a bump or something on the right side. I did work with the upper control arm quite a bit putting the EE kit on, but I didn't pay too much attention to the lower control arm. I will definitly look for worn out bushings or cracked welds too. I hope I can find it my self, or it might be awhile till I get my truck rolling again.

I just finished chasing down something similar, I swore it was the drivers side front cv joints, turns out it was the pass. side front wheel bearing.
jack up the truck and try to movr the tire top and bottom, could be a bad bearing.
I also agree that the ball joints are a good possibility as well.

good luck

Well it took alot of looking around, and alot of hitting with the rubber mallet. It turns out that when I replaced the rotors, I must not have tightened the callipers enough and the left side became alittle loose and was making the noise. I spent all weekend on the kit, and all it took was a couple of turns with the wrentch to fix!
