DOT is Department of Transportation. If the bulbs aren't DOT approved, then the lights aren't legal for on-road use. But then again, it doesn't really matter b/c cops don't care...at least around here.

The PIAA's are worth it. I had a pair and they were great. But do you really want to spill money into those bulbs??

depends, do they really give the "HID look" or jus another stupid "hyper-white" bulb? And why do u think those bulbs arent DOT approved? Cuz they shine blue or something?

For headlight bulbs I'd use Sylvania Silverstars. Much cheaper than PIAA and they're legal.

i could care less about it being legal or not. Cops around here could care less. As long as i dont have a flashing blue and red light on top of my car im good. How much better is PIAA vs silverstars cuz i had those bulbs and hated them, couldnt tell a dif from stock

They're about the same. The PIAA Xtreme White is really white. I personally think it's way too white.
