Hi All,

I've done a lot of searches on these forums - and on the internet in general - about cleaning my throttle body. But everything is so mixed as to whether the car should/shouldn't be running, whether the throttle body should/shouldn't be removed, and what I should/shouldn't spray.

I hate to be so green behind the ears, but I'm posting to find out if I could just remove my intake, (stock), unbolt/remove my plastic cover, and spray in my throttle body? I'm not a fan of removing the TB, but I'm just wondering if the car is supposed to be running at some point - like while I'm spraying the cleaner, etc.

Sorry if this thread is a bit confusing - I think I've read waaaay too many posts. :p: Oh, and it's a 99 SOHC XLT if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Hey All,

Thanks for the responses! The video was definitely great, but for mine, things are situated a little differently in the engine compartment. Still, I don't think that really makes a big of difference in terms of the "procedure" - just the "how-to". But would it be possible to leave the TB on?

Also, I just picked up some MAF cleaner, some TB/Carb cleaner, and a can of SeaFoam. On the back of the TB can, it actually says to remove the intake, spray in 2-3 second bursts, reconnect and then start the car at high revs. Then repeat. Does that sound right?

Thanks again for the responses!

Thanks BB! I never heard of the oil part before, but that makes sense.

Thanks again! :D
