Hey Guys/Gals,
Noob here to the Explorer scene. I just picked up an '02 explorer limited w/ 183k for $1500. Excellent condition, original owner, has every option. Why so low in price? Timing chain noise of course. But I don't want to spend 1-2k to fix that. I will be tackling this job very soon after I gather enough info on this motor. I'm not to familiar with this motor or fords for that matter. (Lexus/Toyota guy turned family guy (for now) ) I've done some jobs alone and by helping so I'm fairly comfortable.
This is what I gathered so far...
Items to buy:
http://compare.ebay.com/like/360414060138?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y
OTC Ford Modular 2V Cam Timing Kit - Since I don't know how to set timing/TDC
PS pulley removal/install kit? - I never remove PS pulleys, I just push the PS off to the side if doing a motor swap.
Am I missing anything else?
Work will be done with basic tool set/sockets
I have AllData for this truck so I will follow step by step
On another note, correct me if I'm wrong, but this 4.6 from the mustang not the 4.6 Triton that blows out spark plugs in the Expedition right?
Thanks!
