Can anybody tell me the normal operating range of an automatic tranny? And is there any reason I couldn't use a regular temp gauge as a tranny temp gauge? The guage I've got has a range of 100-260f. Also...where do you put the sending unit into my auto? Thanks.

I usually see my tranny temp between 150-180-degrees F depending on ambient temp and driving conditions. I usually get anxious when it gets past 195-degrees-F. You you may use a normal oil temp guage, but the tranny temp guage is "metered" for "normal" tranny temperatures. As for hooking it up, I have sending unit going into my auxilary transmission filter which is between the send side of the transmission and the receive side of the radiator since I like to know current temperature vs. cooled temperature.

Thanks for the response. Looks like my gauge will work. I've got an aux tranny filter too for the ph8A. Is there a place for the line or did you custom fab it? Also, since you sound like a gauge guy...do I want a volt or amp gauge? Thanks.
