I've done some searching on this but can't find the specific answer. What is the normal idle rpm level on a warm SOHC engine? The past week or so I've noticed my rpms to be what I think a bit on the low side: 750-1,000 rpms when parked, 500-750 rpms when stopped in drive. The idle is very consistent with no flucuations or signs of stalling. No codes have shown. I'm a bit concerned because my MPG dropped a little since I first noticed this and acceleration from a stop seems to be a little sluggish at times. The IAC was replaced a month or so ago and spark plugs only have ~10k mi on them. Should I check out the o2 sensors or something or am I overreacting over nothing? Any info is appreciated

Recommend you clean the throttle body if you haven't yet. Often overlooked after the IAC valve and MAF sensors have been serviced. Pay close attention where the butterfly valve meets the throttle body on the bottom. Use a stiff bristled toothbrush for tight spots and use CRC throttle body cleaner made specifically for the job. If you've never cleaned it, you'll be surprised how much better it runs.

Throttle body is relatively clean and my mechanic ran some intake cleaner through the system when the IAC was replaced. What about the normal idle level? Can anyone chime in on this?

Idle Speed (rpm) MT Idle speed is electronically controlled and cannot
Idle Speed (rpm) AT Idle speed is electronically controlled and cannot

I believe the factory setting is around 625-650 RPM in drive. Seemed low to me and I bumped it up to 725 using an XCal3.

..sounds about right.

I ready the op comments earlier and driving home made it a point to look at the tach. Stopped at a light in drive, footr on brake, rpms were right at about 650. I have done the MAF, IAC, and throttle body clean on my '98 XLT. 180k+ miles. Also did a Seafoam treatment. She purrs like a kitten.
