I have a lean condition that my mechanic says may be related to the MAF. He measured 3.8 something which I later confirmed myself. Is this low and could it cause a lean condition?

Not yet. I was just wondering what the normal reading is . I was told it is reading low. There is epoxy on one of the screw heads. Do you just scrape it off?

Clean your maf sensor. That's the cheapest way to start. The screw head should have nothing to do with the problem unless the epoxy is attached to the wiring. I don't know what normal reading should be. Try google

In 4.0L engine 3.8 is acceptable as long as it is close to 4.0
