Not idleing correctly

Started an earlier post about how I installed a remote starter on my X. I though that the remote starter was causing the problems I'm having, but I unplugged the starter and it still happens so I think it is something else.

I start the X and it immediatly revs to 2,000 the starts to drop then I hear a loud hissing (fuel or fuel pump) and the engine starts to studder and then dies. I am able to keep it running by pushing the gas and keeping the revs high. Could this be a sign of a bad fuel pressur regulator, or oxygen sensor or some thing of that nature.

I wouldn't describe the fuel/fuel pump as a "hissing," thought maybe that's it. However, the first thing I think of for a "loud hissing" is a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum tree, vacuum hoses, etc. for a missing cap/hose/other leak.

i agree the fuel pump can mainl be herd befor start up. now the problem you are exp. sounds to me to be a leak in the air intake tube. check from the air filter box on up to the throttel body of the engine. i think you might find that the 5/8 hose connected toi the huge intake hose to be disconnected. sounds just like a mass air flow sensor malfuntion.

sorry for the late reply.

you guys were right
I remember testing the wires for the remote starter, and when I gave the engine a quick crank it backfired. This must have been why I found two hoses that had been blown off of the little fittings that sit on the intake manifold next to the windsheild wipper motor.

:D The problem is fixed and the remote starter works great!!!! :) :)
