Not idling correctly when started.

I was at Bestbuy. Went in to look for radios for this Explorer. Came out and started it and the motor was idling up and down. Died on me so I restarted it and it did it again. I drove down the road and it kept doing it. So, I turned it off and sat for a min or so. Started it back up and it went away. Any idea what could of caused this? I got it inspected so no codes or anything. Weird, need help. Thanks.

I had a similar problem on mine, One of my spark plug wires was not seated correctly on the coil pack and I thought my engine was about to grenade. When I finally noticed it I just gave it alittle pop back on and it was good as new. I had all the same symptoms as yours so hopefully the same thing happened, good luck!

Ok. I appreciate it very much. I'll look when my kid gets home from school. She has it. It's her vehicle. Me and my wife are jealous. It has less miles than my Dakota and her Sante Fe and is just nicer to us. LOL. Thanks.

Check your IAC or TPS sensors. IAC may be clogged and in need of cleaning or replacement.

Does anyone have a pic of the IAC and TPS on a 03 Sport V6? I have an idea what and where they are just want to make sure cause there are more sensors on this motor than my Dakota V8 and 93 Thunderbird V8 LX. LOL.

do what I do. buy the part and see what it looks like and replace it!!LOL Naww buy A Haynes book for your ex. Its a good investment. IAC Is usually on top of THrottle body, and TPS is usually in the side of it, most f the time on the opposite side of the throttle cable.

If it looks remotely like the ones on my Tbird then I think I have them. I'll just clean them all. LOL. Don't really want to mess with the IAC though. Can mess them up pretty badly.

You can't really just "clean up" a TPS. they either work or they don't. IAC can be cleaned. Just use some carb cleaner on them and let it dry before you re-install.
