I have a 2000 Explorer Sport w/the V6 and it intermittently will not start. The truck has power and will occasionly start, I was wondering if anybody has ever had the brake switch go bad or if there might be some other explanation, that fact that it will start occasionally has me stumped, I am no mechanic but can ussually do minor repairs, I'm just not sure what I should be looking at.

I'd appreciate any help Thanks

What happens when it won't start? If you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If not, it's a fuel delivery problem.

It doesn't do anything, it doesn't crank there is nothing and I'll leave it for a day or so and it will start no problem, so it seems more like an electrical issue, that is why I was thinking about the brake switch.

Check your connections to the solenoid and the starter. Keep in mind that the cables can corrode on the inside and you may not see it on the outside.

Thanks I'll check tomorrow. Any other suggestions if this does not prove to be the problem?
