Not sure what my problem is

I've read a lot about the timing chain issues on the 4.0 SOHC. I have the rattle but it is only when i am idling and in gear (at a stoplight, drive thru) I'm thinking it's just a tensioner or maybe heat shield on my cats...... What do you guys think?

Yes.


Check the heat shields, make sure their secure.
If they are, you now know what the rattle is.

well i checked it out today... I don't hear any rattle in the engine compartment. I crawled under and it seemed to be the cats. My next question is, if i get a new exhaust can I delete one or both of the cats that are below the front seat area? I'm looking for the legal solution here
