From the start... (Have a 99 Sport w/ 4.0 OHV) About once a year (during the coldest time in winter) I would get a lean bank code for the last 6 yrs. Thought it had something to do with me having a CAI & TBS, would reset it and everything was fine. About a week ago, I noticed a rough start & idle, it would also bog down during acceleration but seemed to get better after the engine warmed up a bit. I then got a CEL code (P0304), checked # 4plug & wire, and the wire was bad, replaced it and still having probs. Going to replace all the plugs, wires & new coil pack. (Engine has 135K miles, current plugs & wires have about 60k mi on them, orig coil pack). Going to replace the orig fuel filter and also am running Seafoam thru a full tank of gas. Have also noticed a mysterious disappearance of some engine coolant, didn't think much of it until I read some posts on here. Hoping the replacement parts will help but starting to lean toward the bad intake gaskets as the problem, hopefully it's not a cracked head. Going to troubleshoot from the simplest things to the worst case. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated but have a good idea of what I may need to do. Thanx to everyone who posted their situations and helped me to narrow down my probs, best case it's the ignition system/ tune-up, "mid" case prob is intake gaskets & worst case is the heads. Keep your fingers crossed, will update if anyone's interested. Thanx again fellow Explorers.:salute:

Luckily it ended up being a clogged fuel filter and the plugs and wires. My dumbass never changed the fuel filter (had 135k mi on it). I tried to do the plugs myself but couldn't get out #4 (which was causing the code). Ended up cracking the porcelin tip and was running on 5 cyls for a day, took it to a mechanic and he couldn't get it out easily & gave me the worst case scenario (broken plug or stripped threads, possibly expensive fix). Took it to another mech and they luckily got it out w/o any damage. Had em change the fuel filter, new plugs & wires (autolite double plats & taylors), and installed the Screamin Demon ignition coil. Could have done most of it myself but since they were doing the plugs, figured it was just as easy to have em do the rest. They checked the PCV system and cleaned the throttle body. The code is cleared and everything seems good. She runs great now, learned my lesson on keeping up with routine maintenance.
