Not trying to sound stupid, but will it work? Chevy 350 crate

Hey..Im kinda a noob to all this car stuff right now but i will be getting there...I have a 97 xlt expy and i want to rebuild the engine because it has about 200,000 miles on it almost..One of my friends said "put a 350 in it"...I can get them for cheap, and sometimes free from my uncle who races stockcars...
I was wondering..Will it work? I know i will have to find headers and everything, but I am wondering will the stock auto tranny hold up to a 350?

Let me know what you guys think about this please and post anything useful/helpful, or if you think its a bad idea...I know i would atleast have the most powerful, if not fastest explorer near me

Find an Explorer with a 302 that is wrecked. Pretty much bolt in if you get the same year. Much easier with a donor truck.

This is one of those times where cross breeding is very bad. We only like thorough breads here!
