Thinking of doing a total fluid change on my 93 EB 2wd. I bought the truck new and the owners manuals says it holds 9.6 quarts. Is this right or a misprint? Seems like some others who have done a total change used about 16 quarts. I would appreciate knowing the actual number of quarts used by owners who have done the complete change. Thanks. MikeTEC

Thanks, Gimp!
How do you like synthetic transmission fluid after your change over? Could you tell any difference in the way your transmission performed? MikeTEC

Gimp:
Have you noticed any leaks since you changed over to snythetic transmission fluid, and what brand did you use? Secondly, do you hve a limited slip axle and if so, did you add anti-clatter agent to the differential along with the synthetic differential fluid? Thanks, Gimp. Mike

I changed to Mobil 1 tranny fluid at 30k miles; I have seen NO leaks whatsoever since then.

I have a LS ( 3.73 ) rear end and have changed to Mobil 1 fluid there too. Did not use any addative and have NO problems.

Hope that this helps....

I have noticed on some synthetic gear oils have on the back that it is OK for LS diff's. Others don't say that. Castrol for one, I know, is good for LS diffs, without having to add any additive.

Thanks, Folks. If I can get 1-2 mpg improvment, especially in view of todays gas prices, it will be worth synthetic in the transmission and rear end. I too, have the 3.73 LS axle. It has served me well for 105K miles, with a lot of pulling in the hot 108 degree and above Texas summers. Just did not know if a change over with 105K would cause leaks. I have used Mobil 1 in the engine since it was new with great success! Mike

Thanks everyone. Mobil 1 tranmission fluid and rear axle fluid it is! OKed by my wife also when I explained the possible increase in milage. (good marketing technique if you ever need one) Mike
