I'm also from the Detroit area, I live in Brighton. This is my second Explorer. First was an XLT V8 AWD. I bought it mainly for towing my race car. I used it a lot for about 3 years and mostly I exceeded its capabilities. So I traded it in for an F350 diesel.

I just sold that and bought another Explorer. Similar to my last one...Limited V8 AWD. I'll once again use it for some towing although not nearly as much as last time. I found that installing some Bilsteins and an extra leaf in the rear makes it a pretty decent towing rig. I used to tow at 75-80MPH and still get 12MPG. I can take that for sure.

I expect pretty much the same this time. I've ordered the shocks and all the towing equipment so once it's all installed I'll feel right at home again. ; )

I'll be searching the forum for engine mods. I'm always looking for bolt on improvements as I really don't want to get into the engine. I spend too much time doing that on the race car anyway. I hoping to find a decent software upgrade along with a better filter, etc. Maybe a catback exhaust or something but I hear the headers are the restriction so....

Anyway, any hints about mods would be appreciated! Thanks, seeya 'round!

Welcome to the forum. My suggestion would be a new air intake, flash your chip with a better program, and a free flowing exhaust. That will do a lot.
