This has bugged me for a long time in my 94 4x4....

SOmetimes when I pull to a stop like at a light, just as the truck stops and as the body "rolls" back a bit (settles I guess is the right word), I get a weird shifting feeling...almost like something is settling in or something...its not quite a clunk, and the tranny is new, so its not the Torque converter.....the feeling seems to eminate from the rearward half of the truck....

Anyone else get this weird sensation??

A common source for clunking after a stop on the '95 and up Explorers is the slip yoke. Lubricating it will usually get rid of it. I would imagine that the '94 would probably have one as well. Try checking if it does. If there isn't any grease on it, try adding some.

clunk

Thanks! I never thought of that....will try it!! :)

could be driveshaft slip yoke or easilly be failing u joint

Not positive about the Explorers, but I know on the Rangers over the same time period, there was a TSB about a similar noise... the gas would slosh in the fuel tank, at one end, and there was a cavity that would seal itself... sounded/felt like someone was actually bumping the vehicle from behind... maybe? I dunno...
