Odd shudder during acceleration

So this has been happening for a while whenever I drive. Usually with a light foot, once the speedo gets up to 30-40mph I get this sudden shudder. It's loud, the whole car starts to shake rapidly, almost like something isn't meshing as the front tire spins and then it goes away. Usually with light gas, maybe 1/4 of the way down. With any more its usually smooth, maybe once in a while I'll get a sudden shudder. seems like it starts from the driver side axle not sure.

Today, it happened oddly enough during 50-60 on the fwy right before it shifted. I have a '97 5.0L AWD Eddie Bauer. I'd like to get this fixed so it doesn't get worse later and it annoys the hell out of me. Heard it could be the torque converter or clutch. Don't know where it's coming from.

There's also a small grinding/chirping noise coming from the driver side tire. That it think could be the brakes, sitting in traffic I had the windows down and it was more prevalent. Applying the brakes just amplified the noise. Before it'd just squeak/chirp and applying the brakes would only slow it down. It's rhythm is consistent with the speed. Slower I go, slower the chirp, faster I go faster the chirp until I go 30mph + then I can't hear it.

The chirp sounds like the brakes. When was the last time you had them changed/looked at? Pads might be down to the squeaker on the drivers side
