Okay, so I think I may know what the problem is, but not positive... and I have no clue if the 2 things are related.
Anyway, on my Sploder (97 5.0, 4r55e? tranny), when in O/D and only goin between 40-50, the truck will start to shudder real bad until it changes gears. This has to do with the valve body bolts in the tranny not properly torqued.
And lately, just driving down the highway, wether O/D is on or off, the truck has a bit of a vibration to it. It's especially noticeable in the center console. It has the off-set cup holders, one being towards the front on the left side, and the other behind it towards the right side. Well, the right one bein smaller, when I have a bottle in there it shakes like hell (cups don't fit tight). I'm assuming this is caused by the tranny, and assuming it's doing that due to valve body bolts?
It used to not be as bad, but has slowly gotten worse. Tranny fluid level is fine.
Any ideas? :banghead:

oh yeah, and a tune up was done like 5 or 6 months ago (new plugs, plug wires, air filter)

u'r tranny is the 4R70W.

Have you had your tires balanced/alignment done lately?

this is a reply from the FTE message board, with somebody else that was having the problem...

"If you have the same condition my father's '95 had all you have to do to remedy your 3rd to 4th shuttering is drop the tranny pan and tighten the valve body to transmission bolts to factory torque specs. The fellow at our transmission shop said he has done this fix on alot of these Ford tranny's, our's is still good after over 50,000 since (FIX). I hope this helps in any way. Try it you'll like it!!!!"
