Ok, so a while ago I did a TT on my 97 5.0. Not too sure if the problem started then, or sometime after drivin on some pretty mean 4x4'in trails to get to a camp spot.
Anyway, this are the measurements of the TT I got (distance is between top of tire and bottom of fender)
Dri. Side - Previous: 4, New: 5 7/8" or 5 1/2" (I wrote down 2 #s, not sure which is right)
Pass. Side - Prev: 4 1/4", New: 6"
So I didn't even get quite 2 inches out of them, so I don't think they're maxed.
But the problem I'm having, is that there is a fairly strong shudder I feel in the steering wheel. I'm assuming that might be due to the alignment, but kinda wanted other opinions. Also, sometimes the truck will drive straight with the steering wheel straight, but other times, the steering wheel is ****-eyed yet the truck is going straight. Possibly bad TRE? How could I test that?

And the last thing, is a weird vibration I can feel in the floorboard. It's somewhat random, but always occurs if I floor the gas, or make a sharp turn. When I feel the shudder, it's there for like a second, goes away for a second, comes back for a second, until it completely stops. Any ideas as to what that could be?

Sorry for the long post, and would greatly appreciate any and all ideas/suggestions!

you did the tt and didnt have an alignment done? thats all bad.... after any type of suspension lift it is always best to at least have the alignment checked... also as to vibration how are your cv angles up front? there is a common problem with binding up if the angles from the tt are too extreme...

no, I didn't get an alignment. Part of that is due to laziness, part due to the fact that it's not bad enough I can see it.
As for the CV angles, they don't look bad at all. I was thinkin that weird vibration I feel in the floorboard was from that.. but then I also remembered I didn't even get a full 2" out of the TT, so put that in the back of my mind. Unfortunately I have no way of getting the angles tho, so I'm not for sure how they really are.

your camber is probably off ... mine was doing the exact same thing stock and i took it in for an alignment and he said that the alignment was close and that it was probably a torn cord in a tire.... try rotating the tires front to rear and see if it helps...

good idea.. haven't rotated the tires yet, will see what that does.
