Before anyone says "try the seach function", I did. There are many, many threads and posts related to aftermarket shocks and while they are all probably very enlightening, I am not interested in making any modifications to my Explorer.

I have a '99 Explorer Sport 4WD that has a little over 100K on it now. I want to replace the shocks all around and am looking for some good sources for replacement shocks. I called my local dealer and they have them for about $65 each. I am hoping for something a little less costly but also good enough to last another 50K (minimum).

Also, I have repleced shocks on other vehicles and have not run into any difficulty except for rusted threads. Is there anythine I need to know before attempting to replace the shocks on my Explorer?

The fronts will be easy. The rears will be a bit more challenging, have some ratchet wrenches, not much clearance on the topside.

Try rockauto.com for shock options, they are a forum sponsor, and have overall the most competitive pricing. I have $30 Monroe Sensatracs and love them, been on for about a year.

my old explorer i re did all the shocks with kyb gr2's
made quit a difference, but im not sure how long they lasted as i only had them on for 2000 miles and then crashed

Monroe Reflex is a great shock. Have them on my '96 4x4.
