Currently on the outbound leg of our 950 mile road trip. With the adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, auto wipers, lane keep assist aid, navigation voice prompts and "driver rest" suggestions, I've basically just become a warm body in the driver's seat (he said with tongue in cheek).

According to Google soon you wont need that body in the drivers seat!

Driving across the bottom of New Mexico, the idea of automated driving is the ONLY time I would see it's benefit for me!

Well, so much for being a zombie driver for the entire trip. We hit Pikes Peak Mountain in Colorado Springs about a 9000 ft ascent and decided to have a little fun with "Manual" mode. Was surprised how much the 6 speed select shift tranny would grab an extra (or two) gear(s). At one point, I shifted to manual going 35 mph and was in 5th gear! Never went over 3rd in Manual mode. Not quite the same as a stick shift but was still fun.

During the ascent, my wife said she could smell the engine burning hot. Looked at my gauges and engine temp was holding steady at about midrange on the gauge (completely normal). Told her I doubted it was our car. It might have been the tranny burning hot from the Kia Optima in front of us...LOL.
