Ok so I have had my 96 X for quite a while now...I have alot of big plans but my eyes are alot bigger than my wallet. I will never be able to afford the things I want. When I can my X will prolly die. I have a friend with a 98+ Yukon GT....It has the leather interior, V8, true dual exhaust (loud,) 4wheel drive, 35 inch BFG MTs on eagle alloys, and a lift of 6" or so. Everything I want my X to be except it is a Yukon. Well he wants to sell it for $12,000. I, being a friend, should be able to get him to come down a little bit. I guess what I am asking is what do ya'll think I should do? Heard any complaints about these Yukon GT's? Dont hate me for considering it please. I love this thing though!

sounds like an ok truck..... i dont remeber gm making a yukon GT though....hopefully, its not like an explorer type-r

nah...it's real...here's a pic of what it kind of looks like (minus the billet stuff, air dam, cowl hood, and rear visor thing):

A guy 'round here has one...nice truck ! too bad they don't make 'em any more. They are kinda rare...I only know of 2 here in NASCAR country. The only ones I've seen are black ? Body, GM is head and shoulders above FoMoCo in paint, (If only Ford would take what sis company Volvo does). Weak points...brakes (big time), Clutch, if manual...fuel delivery, all parts.. the GM small blocks are great, parts reasonable available...one guy did have his timing chain break at 75k ! but replaced it with a racing-type timing gear set, a little loud but VERY reliable...depending on the miles, $10.5 - 12k is a decent deal, and you will have an apparant rare item.

i had a Tahoe 2dr 4wd black with 6" superlift an 35's that looked just like the GT. the only difference is the GT's had everything painted black and came standard with leather. manual tranny was not available. the only problem i had with mine is the wipers would only work every once in a while. GM fixed it due to a recall, so no money spent there. other than that, it was a very reliable truck. good luck, i really liked mine. just found it time to move on. the rear drum brakes are crap, and i mean total crap. swap to discs (cheaper than you think) if you plan on keeping it a while with the 35's. the paint thing is right, i had a local body shop guy buff mine out and take his time. afterwards, it looked damn near show quality. the thing looked soaking wet even with no wax on it. great paint job once you get rid of the factory "orange peel".

Thanks for the input. I probably won't be getting it though. It seems to be having a few problems here lately. The A/C went out, some problem in the rear...maybe with the brakes? not sure. His tires are nearly bare. Maybe if he gets those fixed. Time will tell.

Just a suggestion: Don't buy from a friend!! Could cause some bad blood! Nice truck though (for a chevy) :p
