I have a fairly new motor (Jasper), 4800 miles that during the last 2100 miles ate 1 quart of oil. I figured that some would be do to new engine break in, but is that a normal amount or should I be looking for something else. There are no visable leaks and no smoke in the exhaust. The engine seems to run great.

I'd take a plug or two out and see what they say. Start checking the simple stuff first, with those motors isnt' there a warrenty?

3 year 75000 miles. This is the 3rd Jasper motor under their warranty. They have always covered the entire repair/replacement, but it's getting very old fast. I'm still hoping that it's just the engine breaking in.

I've read about people going thru 2or 3 motors from them before they get a good one. I see this is another case, let us know your findings.

Well, the old X, just went another 2200 miles and ate another QUART of oil. Called Jasper Engines, they stated, " Their engines normally use about 1 qt of oil every 1500 miles, so i'm getting very good oil consumption with mine".

Note: engine seems to run fun fine and gets good mileage.

I told them that this is not normal, they claim that their engines meet or exceed factory specs and factory engines don't use 1 qt of oil every 1500 miles. Japser rep did not seem to concerned. Jasper rep then sent me a email stating same.

Well I guess it's time to write to the President of the company and find out what is going on. Last time I wrote the President of Jasper, I got a totally different response, one of concern and the salesman/rep I had been talking with was apparently terminated as when I or anyone caled for him, we were told he no longer worked there.

I"ll keep you posted. :banghead:
