hang on let me get some pictures:D

If it is under the radiator, it is the PS cooler. If in front of the radiator, its an ATF cooler.

I know of no oil cooler on an Explorer unless it was added on.

sounds as if it is not an oil cooler i wanted to add oil pressure and temp gauges from it

do you know where i would go about hooking up the senders for an oil temp amd pressure gauges

Wait a minute I have a 1st gen.

1) A side from cooling the PSF what does this accomplish?

2) Is it worth the time and trouble? I mean my truck is 11 yrs now and it the pump goes I will just get a new one with a life time warranty so if it goes a 3rd time it will be free.

3) Where can I find an a-pillar pod to hold gauges for a 1st gen.
I have looked and looked no dice!!!!

thanks Charlie

This will prolong the pump and fluid and box as well. It's a nice added bonus on the trail when the steering gets a good workout. Looks like I'll be heading out to get a P/S cooler from a newer Exploder. I have always wanted one so here's my excuse. Another great add on for steering is an ATF inline filter. Just go to any local NAPA auto parts and tell them and they will know what you are talking about. Double check your return hose size as I cannot remember the diameter. This helps out even more than the cooler does.

If you do an ATF cooler ( highly recommended ), you might as well as add an external ATF filter too.

Take a look at the following thread: Dead Link Removed

I was meaning for the P/S. Power steering fluid is nothing but ATF so the filters work great. The filter for both the tranny and P/S are a great idea. Thanks for the link.
