Oil Pump failure now have to replace engine

all, thank you for the feedback, i am going to upload the service ticket when i get back to my office.

i agree i did not provide enough information but honestly when the dealer called my and said "10,500" i was frustrated and said i would get back to them. if i recall the estimate the engine was 4500 and a few hundred shipping, 1000 to 1500 in fluids and some extra for replacement parts and the rest was labor. he gave me the higher cost assuming it would come in a few hundred less

as for the extra 10 miles driving you are right, i should have pulled over and possibly saved the engine, there where highway and some other circumstances

that said this has been great information that has made my decision a bit harder, i will upload the service cost shortly

thank you

If it was a water pump failure that led to the engine dying then I'm guessing that the oil would not be clean since it would have coolant mixed with it. It may just be the oil pump.

update, the dealer world with FMC and Ford has kicked in 3800.00, the dealer has kicked in 1400.00 this was all initiated by the Service Manger which was really great.

the dealer will tear the engine down to find a cause which is great

i get the Ford 3 year unlimited mileage warranty which is great also

thanks all
