One of your auto hubs is most likely no good. Mine use to do that until i got manuals.

ok so if i got manual hubs the automatic switch would be useless right? and then they are suppose to last longer or better strength? or what?
the four low woudl still work right

Your transfer case will still work exactly as it always has (the switches only effect the transfer case). Changing to manual hubs only changes the mechanism by which the axleshafts are locked to the wheels.

so i would have to get out and lock them?? right? explain please? i also have one other question, i was watching a rock crawling show the other day and they were pulling there rig with just teh front wheels, and idea how they did that? i was think that they hit the e-brake and then just pulled with the front wheels?

Yes, you would have to get out and lock the hubs (unless you had already locked the hubs before you got in). And when you are done with 4WD and want to unlock the hubs, you have to get and unlock them.
On your '94, if you wanted to pull only with the front, you'd have to disconnect the rear driveshaft, because the part-time transfer case you have locks the front and rear driveshafts together. I've heard of this being done in cases where the rear driveshaft broke so they could get home.

ok, but the rear drive shaft on these rock crawler wasn't broke thats the weird thing! waht would happen if you actually put your e-brake on and just tried to pull with the front? do you think it would burn out the e-brake?

Our T-Case sends power 50/50 front and rear...So front and rear drive shafts turn at the same RPM. The vehicle wouldn't move undless both axels turned.

What kind of rock crawler did you see? Did the rear drive shaft move? If it didn't then I would assume the T-case allows you to engage either the front, rear or both.. If the rear shaft did move then the rear axle is no longer locked...

not sure, but it was on a show soyea cant really stop things and ask!! ha ha but yea i think i might just get a set of manual locking hubs to make them stronger!!

Get the manuals. Its the same price as one auto hub. When I hit the trail I lock the hubs. 4x4 isn't needed yet but when it is I just it the 4x4 button to engage. That way if your in the mud or something you don't have to get dirty. Just lock the hubs BEFORE you think you will need them.

yea i dont do to much mudding any more (cause i need new tires ha ha) but i am working on my performance upgrades, the manuals are a big difference or noticeable?

Manuals make no difference in performance. They will last 10 times longer, cheaper, easier to fix and replace but here is no performance benefit that I know of.

o ok well thanks for the help, i was pondering this one link in the room bout the tps sensor you shoudl check it out

An Atlas transfer case allows you to control the front and rear axels independently. You've got hi, lo, and neutral for both axels. So you could put the rear in neutral and pull with just the front. Why you would want to do this I'm not sure.

i actually just thought about it os i could test my strength of my front hubs kinda not worth it huh?
